What is concrete?

A concrete slab makes up an important portion of construction elements of buildings. Concrete slabs are thick, flat, horizontal concrete floor which is usually used as a roof or floor. Concrete slabs are used for building the ground flooring in some homes. Concrete slabs can be placed directly on the ground or used as a support for the foundation.

Our Concrete Slab Installation Process

Concrete installations can be complicated when your experience and skills aren't up to the job. Port St. Lucie Concrete Contractors follow an exact concrete slab installation process that adheres to the local code and standards of industry.

In all of our concrete projects, safety is a first priority. Before beginning any project, we ensure we are equipped with all the necessary safety equipment. We have gloves with long sleeves, long pants and rubber boots. All of these safeguard us from concrete splatters, which could harm our overall health and well-being.

Similar to before, we will follow these steps:

Step 1: Preparation on the spot

We follow the same process regardless of whether it's a tiny concrete slab or a larger one. Every project we work on starts with the preparation of the area. We tidy up and eliminate waste so we can start on a clean slate. We make sure that all the necessary materials are readily available in preparation. The delivery of materials is scheduled before actual work begins. This helps us start and finish the project in time.

Step 2 Step 2: Reinforce concrete slabs with steel and construct concrete forms.

Once the site is clean and ready, we move on with the construction of concrete forms by using wire mesh. Concrete forms are strong barriers that help to hold the concrete mix in place. Concrete forms can also allow concrete mix to adopt a particular shape or style. Rebar is used to reinforce concrete for larger structures. This helps concrete surfaces become stronger.

Step 3: Mixing Concrete Mix

To help us, we use a concrete truck. It also helps ensure concrete materials are mixed correctly. Sometimes, we do manual mixing. However, most concrete mixers are required in order to complete projects.

Step 4: Pouring Concrete

Once the concrete has been mixed, we immediately pour concrete into the forms. Be careful when pouring the concrete mix in order to ensure that we do not create too many air pockets. Air pockets result from not enough mortar being filled with the aggregate. Concrete is made by ensuring that it is evenly distributed throughout the shape.
